This is an extraordinary sculpture. The face is maybe 2.5m high, and it is carved out of a block of Portland stone that has probably moved less than half a kilometre from where it formed. Portland, the south coast of England.

One-Island Pond in Mitcham Common is a haven for wildlife. It is nestled in a large group of trees and bushes within a section of the Common that is hardly visited. Shot using a 550nm ‘Autochrome’ colour IR filter, processed using basic red/blue channel swaps and slight adjustments with curves and hue/saturation controls.
